Perillo wins David and Goliath case, but war isn’t over
June 15th, 2017
Joe Perillo won his “David and Goliath” legal battle with a hotel chain under the Marriott brand, but the war isn’t over.
LHO Chicago River, which operates under Marriott, dropped the lawsuit it filed last year claiming Perillo had wrongly taken “Hotel Chicago” as the name for his boutique hotel on Jackson Boulevard.
LHO, based in Bethesda, Maryland, had claimed it owned the “Hotel Chicago” label. It put the name on its downtown hotel, previously known as Hotel Sax (before that it was House of Blues Hotel).
LHO accused Perillo of trademark infringement in its lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Chicago.
Perillo fought back and had his Trademark documentation as defense. The court case isn’t over yet, though.
