Manny’s still giving ’em what they want
July 6th, 2017
Changing dining habits and a shift in the city’s economic engine have prompted Manny’s Coffee Shop and Deli to open on Sundays.
“The city is more family friendly so we opened on weekends,” says Dan Raskin, the fourth-generation owner of the West Side restaurant that this year celebrates 75 years in business. The Raskins are marking the event by offering a cookbook featuring much-loved Manny’s recipes. They’ve been tested for regular kitchens by Raskin’s mom, Patti.
It took some nudging to get Raskin’s parents to open Sundays.
The restaurant has expanded its salad bar, too.
“It’s what people want,” Dan told me in an interview in the back corner of the restaurant.
