Jarrett emerges a powerful voice for Chicago women
April 9th, 2017
Is Valerie Jarrett the most powerful woman in Chicago? She certainly came out speaking powerfully for women at the recent Chicago Network’s “Women in the Forefront” luncheon.
Some e 1,600 business leaders packed the Chicago Hilton for the event that was headlined by Jarrett, the longtime adviser to former President Barack Obama.
Jarrett, who announced she’s going to write a book, encouraged the crowd to take risks and embrace a career that “zigzags.” To bosses who find it difficult to retain female talent? Jarrett says, “Do better.” And for those wondering whether women can have it all, she says, “Yes, but not all at the same time.”
Guests responded with repeated applause and hoots of approval.
Lots of notable names in the room. Read about them in my Taking Names column in the Chicago Sun-Times.
