Business relationship ends but not friendship

Desiree Rogers exits Johnson Publishing but her friendship with Linda Johnson Rice remains a force.
Rogers served seven years as CEO of the company that publishes Ebony and the digital-only Jet magazine. Rice and Rogers have been pals for nearly 30 years but observers questioned whether their friendship could withstand the challenges of working in a struggling media climate. Rice was chairman emeritus while Rogers was CEO and during a period that saw the company sell off its headquarters building and put its photo archives up for sale.
Last year, Johnson Publishing was sold to CVG Group, based in Texas. Through it all, the friends remained close, often socializing together. Rice tells me their friendship remains “on solid ground.” And Rogers confirms it.
