Dorri McWhorter takes the wheel, literally, for YWCA
August 26th, 2016
Uber has a new driver today. Dorri McWhorter, the CEO of Metropolitan YWCA in Chicago, is at the wheel to commemorate Women’s Equality Day–when the 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote was signed.
With that in mind, the YWCA teamed with Uber, the driving sharing-business, to raise money for the Y.
McWhorter will donate 100 percent of her fares to the nonprofit organization. You can see her in action here.
This isn’t the YWCA’s first partnership with Uber. Last year, they joined up for a campaign to recruit 5,000 women to drive on the Uber platform. They tripled that goal, McWhorter says in the video.
“Our partnership with the YWCA has been one of the most effective ways to get the word out about the opportunity and flexibility of using Uber to make extra money,” Uber Chicago General Manager Marco McCottry said in a release.
