Voices for Choices will benefit Planned Parenthood

May 11th, 2017

You may see some notable names at a benefit concert Friday, May 12, organized by a senior at Francis Parker School and being held at the Metro.

It’s called Voices for Choices and is mobilizing teens to learn about Planned Parenthood’s mission and how they can get involved in supporting reproductive rights. There’s music, of course.

It was organized with House Bill 40 in mind. That’s thte legislation that offers protections for reproductive rights should federal funding for such rights change. The governor has said he’d veto the measure.

Natasha Lerner, the organizer behind the event, wants to call attention to the issue. She was motivated after interning at the nonprofit. Lerner is the daughter of Hyatt Hotels Chief Marketing Officer Maryam Banikarim and nonprofit consultant Andy Lerner.

Ben Pritzker, whose father is Hyatt Chairman Tom Pritzker, has voiced his support for the event.

The concert will feature Chicago indie pop duo Wild Belle and local teen artists, including The Burns Twins x Kaina, Kopano and Yadda Yadda.

Donations can be made here.
