A Chicago friend of Hillary’s tips his hat to Trump
April 27th, 2017
Leo Melamed is a pioneer in the futures industry and now chairman emeritus of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.
He’s also a friend and supporter of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. A picture of her and Melamed hangs on Melamed’s office wall along with numerous other politico friends.
So what a surprise to hear the Chicago businessman speak out in support of President Donald Trump, who defeated Clinton in a fierce presidential race.
Melamed was the keynote speaker at the U.S. State Department’s Holocaust Remembrance Day event and spoke about his family’s escape from the Nazis. He also talked about President Donald Trump’s actions bombing Syria.
“I’m a friend of Hillary Clinton and she clearly was my choice,” Melamed told me after the event. “But I have to admit that his (Trump’s) response was admirable and deserved applause and public notice.”
