Stacy Keach returning to the Goodman
February 16th, 2017
Film and Broadway star Stacy Keach will return to the Goodman Theatre to star as Ernest Hemingway in the world premiere of “Pamplona” by Jim McGrath.
Keach will collaborate with Goodman Artistic Director Robert Falls. The two men have worked together before. Falls directed Keach in “King Lear” in 2006 and in Arthur Miller’s “Finishing the Picture” in 2004.
“Stacy is a voracious reader, and Hemingway has fascinated him for a long time,” Falls said in a release. “The opportunity to dive deep with him to reveal this troubled artist and amazing man—at once a father, husband, lover, wartime correspondent and adventurer—is thrilling.”
Hemingway has a special place in local history, too. He was born in Oak Park, and got his start as a journalist writing for the Kansas City Star after attending Oak Park and River Forest High School.
“Pamplona” will appear May 19-June 18 in the Owen Theatre, according to the Goodman.
