Gubernatorial candidate to host comedy show
April 12th, 2017
Ameya Pawar, 47th Ward Alderman who’s running for governor, will host iO Chicago’s show on April 17.
“The Armando Diaz Experience” features iO Chicago improvisers performing scenes based on the monologues, stories and anecdotes from special guests every week.
Pawar is among a growing list of Democrats hoping to unseat Republican Bruce Rauner.
But where other candidates (Chris Kennedy and J.B. Pritzker) have significant wealth to help them along, Pawar must get creative. He’s been traveling across the state to build support.
Now comes the comedy show.
“The Armando Diaz Experience” has big names behind it. It was founded by Adam McKay (SNL, Anchorman, Talladega Nights), Dave Koechner (Anchorman, Thank You For Smoking, SNL) and Del Close (iO co-founder).
