Duchossois family passes the torch
June 21st, 2017
The Duchossois family drew attention recently for an incredible $100 million donation to University of Chicago Medicine to research how the human immune system, microbiome and genetics interact to maintain health.
But the gift is newsy for another reason, too. It signals a shift in how the well-established family is passing the torch to the next generation.
Joining family patriarch Richard Duchossois and his son, Craig Duchossois (the CEO of Duchossois Group), on stage to announce the gift was Ashley Duchossois Joyce, Craig’s daughter.
“Our family is trying to pushing the next generation into leadership roles in the foundation and in the business,” she told me. “It’s been exciting.”
I’ve got more details in my Taking Names column in the Chicago Sun-Times.
